The Division of Coastal Management (DCM) works to protect, conserve and manage North Carolina's coastal resources. DCM carries out the state's Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), the Dredge and Fill Law and the federal Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 (CAMA) through rules and policies of the North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission (CRC).

The division also collects and analyzes data for erosion rates, wetlands conservation and restoration, and to assess the impacts of coastal development.
Used for determining setback distances for oceanfront construction. Factors are based on long-term average movement of shoreline up to 2009. View the rate maps.
