Governor Cooper Announces Phase 2.5 Restrictions
On Tuesday, September 1, 2020, Governor Roy Cooper announced a careful step forward, moving North Carolina into “Safer At Home Phase 2.5" restrictions, beginning at 5 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2020.
This Order will remain in effect through October 2, 2020. Be sure to read the FAQs for a description of the changes.
Note that the playgrounds at Dowdy Park, Town Park, and Whalebone Park will re-open on Friday at 5 p.m. as a result of this order.
Please also note that while wedding ceremonies are exempt from mass gathering restrictions, wedding receptions are not. The new Order will limit mass gatherings to 25 people indoors and 50 people outdoors in a single confined indoor or outdoor space.

On Monday, August 31, 2020, Governor Cooper signed
Executive Order 162 to extend the limited hours on the sale of alcoholic drinks in North Carolina. As the state continues to fight the spread of COVID-19, the Order requires restaurants to end the sale of alcoholic beverages at 11 pm. This Order will remain in effect through October 2, 2020.
