The division ensures adequate levels of water are provided to the town as well as compliance with state and federal regulations concerning water quality. Staff closely follows changes in regulations in order to provide the citizens with safe, clean drinking water.
In addition to the monitoring program, Water Operations personnel operate the water plant seven days a week. Responsibilities at the water plant include laboratory analysis of processed water as well as water sampling from representative points in the distribution system. Staff also maintains a pumping station at 104 Gull Street and two elevated water storage tanks.

Service Line Inventory
The Town of Nags Head is one of 2,300 water systems in North Carolina required by the Environmental Protection Agency to complete a lead line service inventory. This survey was conducted to help identify and reduce potential sources of lead in drinking water. The survey has revealed that there is no lead in our system.
