Beach Driving Map

Beach driving permits for the October 1, 2024 through April 30, 2025 season are on sale now.

Four-wheel drive, state inspected vehicles with a proper Town of Nags Head permit are allowed on the beach in Nags Head from October 1 through April 30 each year. Driving times are thirty minutes prior to sunrise through thirty minutes after sunset daily.

→ Due to erosion, driving is not allowed on the beach north of Nags Head Pier and south of Pelican Street in south Nags Head.

Dowdy Park Events

Don't miss Movie Night at Dowdy Park this Friday, October 4. We expect the sky will be dark enough to start the movie about 7 pm. Bring a container for free popcorn!

Yes, a Windex bottle is recyclable, but be sure to remove the nozzle.

Did you know you can recycle plastic bottles such as a Windex bottle? But, be sure to remove the spray nozzle and dispose of it in the trash.

Have items to recycle? If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at Town Hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), be sure to subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $13.35/month.
