Message from Students at the Coastal Studies Institute - Your input is needed for a local research project! In partnership with UNC-Chapel Hill and the Coastal Studies Institute, undergraduate students are seeking responses to a research survey meant to better understand public knowledge and preferences on Artificial Light at Night (ALAN). We want YOUR feedback as we are seeking participants to fill out a brief 10-minute survey. If you live or are visiting in and between the towns of Corolla and Hatteras, we request your help in completing a survey for our project! Fill out the survey. Filling out the survey is completely voluntary and confidential. No previous knowledge on ALAN is needed to fill it out. The survey will close on Sunday, November 12th. A presentation on the research study findings will be held at the Coastal Studies Institute in Room 262 on December 12th, 6pm. This event is open to the public, and your attendance is appreciated. On behalf of the 2023 field site class, thank you for your consideration and time. We look forward to your responses! UNC-CH IRB 23-1625 If you have any questions about the research or study, feel free to contact our professor Dr. Linda D’Anna at 252-475-5457 or ldanna@email.unc.edu. You may contact the Institutional Review Board at 919-966-3113 or IRB_Subjects@unc.edu.

As part of our focus on maintaining the town's infrastructure, starting Monday, October 30, 2023, the Epstein public beach access will be closed to replace the bathhouse, deck, and walkway at the site. Look for news of a grand opening before summer 2024.

We are joining Dare County and its municipalities in shining a light on the service of our veterans and their families through Operation Green Light for Veterans. From November 6-19, shine a green light to honor our local vets. All it takes it changing one bulb to let our veterans know they are appreciated.

Recycling right can be difficult, especially if you're a "wishcycler" who wants to recycle everything! We wish everything was recyclable too, but placing incorrect items in your bin is a hindrance to the entire recycling process. As a helpful reminder save this for later, then share with a neighbor. If you do not reside in our service areas, please check with your city/county to learn what is recyclable. Thanks for recycling right, Nags Head. We appreciate it. If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $10.33/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
