Town of Nags Head
Whalebone Park meeting on October 25, 2022 from 5-7 pm at our Board of Commissioners Room.

We are pursuing a new grant to fund renovations at Whalebone Park, with a focus on young children and universal accessibility.

Join us for a public open house on Tuesday October 25, 2022 at our Board of Commissioners Room at 5401 South Croatan Highway.

Drop in any time between 5 and 7 pm to check out the draft conceptual parks plan, learn about the Accessibility For Parks grant program, provide feedback, and talk to staff.

There will be a short presentation at 5:30 pm. Please bring your kids as there will be a kids station with paper and crayons so we can include the youngest members of our community.

We hope to see you there!

Before you put bulk trash and brush out for collection, check NagsHeadNC.gov to find out where we'll be collecting.

Each week, through the end of April, we'll update our bulk/brush collection web site on Friday afternoons so you know when we'll be in your area to collect your items. To help keep our beautiful town as clean as possible, please don't put your items by the road unless you've checked to make sure we'll be in your area soon.

Eyes up, phones down. Be a smart pedestrian.

A good pedestrian is an alert pedestrian. The feed can wait; get where you're going safely.

One page brochure advertising Veterans Day ceremony at NH Town Hall on 11/11/22 at 11 am.

You won't have to be in town this year to see our popular Veterans Day ceremony. We'll be livestreaming the event on our YouTube channel starting at 11 am. The ceremony is usually anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes long.

If you can join us in-person, we'll have a special speaker and live music. We'll also lay a beautiful wreath at our veterans memorial. We hope you can take a few minutes out of your day to honor the sacrifices, courage, and patriotism of the men and women who have worn a military uniform.

The right kind of paper you can put in your recycling bin.

Thanks for recycling right, Nags Head!

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $9.60/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.

Read with a therapy dog at the Manteo library.

Beginning October 17, 2022, the Dare County Library’s Manteo location is teaming up with the local branch of the nonprofit organization Pet Partners to offer children the opportunity to read to a certified therapy dog!

Sessions will be available on Mondays and Thursdays, starting at 3:30 p.m.

Therapy pets allow readers to focus on the animal instead of feeling self-conscious, which helps their reading confidence. This program offers children ages three and above and all reading abilities the opportunity to practice reading aloud to an attentive, non-judgmental listener.

Therapy dog reading sessions will last 10 minutes, and children can come once or twice weekly to attend a session. Registration is required. To sign up, visit the Manteo Library in person or call the Manteo Library at 252-473-2372.
