Beach restoration construction is expected to take place from about July 13 through early September 2022.Equipment mobilization is underway now and de-mobilization is expected to take place in September. 

Remember, it is likely the schedule will change over the course of the project.

Construction Area
The project will place take place from 8031 South Old Oregon Inlet Road (Comfort Inn South) near Mile Post 16, south through 10435 South Old Oregon Inlet Road.

*Oceanfront properties and public beach accesses along South Virginia Dare Trail will NOT be impacted.

Summer is in full swing and people are out and about enjoying our beautiful town. Remember to be aware of your surroundings and share the road with others.

The events are in full swing at Dowdy Park. Listen to music, relax with morning yoga, pick up local crafts and food at a market, and soon, watch a movie from the lawn. 

Please park in the Nags Head Elementary School parking lot.

Apply to Join the Newly Formed Pedestrian Project Advisory Committee 

We're taking applications from those interested in serving on the Pedestrian Project Advisory Committee, which will identify and rank future pedestrian projects for Board consideration during the Town's next Capital Improvement Program process.

Our pedestrian priorities have changed with the installation of the west side multi-use path with a focus towards improved bicycle and pedestrian neighborhood connections to the path. 

Staff plans on presenting a list of recommended members for consideration at the August 3, 2022 Board of Commissioners meeting. 

If you are interested in serving on the Pedestrian Project Advisory Committee, please fill out an application online. Your completed form will be automatically emailed to the Town Clerk's office.

Sandals, pool floats, sunglasses... we've seen it all!

Many of these items are made of plastic, but they are not recyclable. Please do not place poolside items in your curbside recycle bin. Thank you for recycling right this summer.


If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling.
