Decentralized Wastewater Management Plan Input Needed

We're updating our Decentralized Wastewater Management Plan and we need YOUR input!

As background, to help homeowners continually maintain septic systems, the Town created the Septic Health Initiative in 2000 for Nags Head residents. In 2005, the Town approved a Decentralized Wastewater Management Plan (DWMP) that more clearly outlines the importance of septic health, maintenance, and education in relation to our region's water quality. (In 2019, the Septic Health Initiative was renamed in honor of Todd D. Krafft, an employee who tirelessly managed and promoted the program.)

The short survey only takes only six minutes to complete. We're looking for feedback that will guide  and suggest changes and additions to the Decentralized Wastewater Management Plan and Septic Health Initiative. For more information on the survey or the plan update, contact Environmental Planner Kylie.Shephard@nagsheadnc.gov.

Senior Garage Mechanic Ron Watson, left, and Public Works Director Ralph Barile, right, retired from the Town last year. This week, we were finally able to honor them in style. Unfortunately, three other retirees couldn't make the shindig: Eddie Hawley, Ricky Spencer, and Keefe White. Thank you all for your dedication to your jobs and to our little community. We hope you continue to enjoy many, many years of retirement. Also, a big thank you to Ron's wife, Di, and Ralph's wife, Sandy, for their understanding when their husbands worked those long hours.
