Town of Nags Head Update, August 13, 2021

8/13/21 11:10am - The tropics remain active with Tropical Depression Fred and newly designated Potential Tropical Cyclone Seven. Fred is expected to impact parts of western FL over the weekend before moving over the Southeastern US by early next week. Impacts from PTC Seven are possible this weekend and into early next week around the Caribbean Islands. No direct impacts to Eastern NC are expected over the next 5 Days, but we will continue to keep a close eye on both storms into next week.

Celebrate National Aviation Day with the First Flight Society at the Dare County Regional Airport in Manteo!

On Thursday, August 19, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the public is invited to visit the regional airport to view airplane displays, visit an array of exhibitors, and grab lunch or a snack from one of the on-site food trucks. Capital Wing Commemorative Air Force is selling rides in a WWII TBM Avenger (pre-registration required).

Come out and participate in the 38th Annual National Night Out at Dowdy Park! This is our opportunity each year to promote police-community partnerships and engage with the public. National Night Out helps to bring back a sense of community and provides a great opportunity to bring law enforcement and neighbors together under positive circumstances. We will have bounce house, a dunking booth (yes, you read that correctly!), a seatbelt simulator and other various vendors and kids activities. The police department will also be providing food for the event. We hope to see you all there!
