Town of Nags Head
Nags Head Town Hall Spring 2020

Latest Town of Nags Head News

The Town of Nags Head remains open and conducting business. However, to ensure everyone’s safety, if you have business with the Town, please check our website at www.nagsheadnc.gov/coronavirus for the most efficient and safe way to conduct business with us. If you do not find what you need on the web site, please call us at 252-441-5508 to make an appoint to meet with our staff.  If you must visit a Town office, please wear a mask if a distance of six feet from other people cannot be maintained. Note that our Public Works office is very small and that to conduct business at Town Hall you must visit the second floor, which requires either using our small elevator or walking up a flight of stairs, both of which are limited in space.

A video of the May 6, 2020 meeting of Nags Head’s Board of Commissioners is available on the Town’s YouTube channel at www.youtube.com/townofnagshead.

Due to the pandemic, curbside bulk items/brush collection service, which usually ends on March 31 of each year, has been extended until May 24, 2020 to ensure that all of our property owners can take advantage of the service.

For those who have not been in the area recently, we’re making a lot of improvements, such as installing water lines and extending our multi-use path, along the southbound lane of South Croatan Highway between Hollowell Street near Mile Post 12 south to the Outlets Nags Head  in the 7100 block of South Croatan Highway near Mile Post 16. Be prepared for closures of the right lane of the highway in this area. For more information, visit https://www.nagsheadnc.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=259. This work will continue into the summer. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Expect closures of sections of Baltic Street between South Croatan Highway and South Memorial Avenue from 5/11/2020 - 5/15/2020. We’re replacing three drainage pipes on the street. In a few weeks, we’ll have to close the street while it is repaved.

411 on Face Coverings

411 on Face Coverings from Dare County

Why You Should Wear a Cloth Face Covering
Individuals in Dare County are encouraged to wear a mask or cloth face covering in public settings where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores, pharmacies, retail stores).

The CDC advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others.  Cloth face coverings can be fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at a low cost.

The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators.  Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance.
