driveways

Water main installation is scheduled to come online along W. Old Cove Rd the week of March 7, 2022. Ongoing construction activities include driveway apron replacement, finish grading, seeding, and stabilization in advance of the transition from the existing water main to newly installed facilities. The driveway apron replacement work will occur over multiple days.  The sequencing will consist of existing concrete removal, forming, compaction, and concrete pour with a minimum 2-day cure time. Driveways poured prior to Thursday, March 3, 2022, will have barriers removed on Saturday, March 5, 2022. Driveways poured after Thursday, March 3, 2022, will have barriers removed the morning of Monday, March 7, 2022.

Driveway connections to the existing asphalt pavement may have a raised edge. This is being done to accommodate roadway resurfacing which is scheduled post-water main installation.

The anticipated timeline for the water service transition along W. Old Cove Rd. to the new water main is currently scheduled for Thursday, March 10, 2022. Connections to the new main will be conducted on a house-by-house basis. Temporary water services interruptions are expected to be about 30 minutes in duration. Door hangers will be placed at the front doors of residences impacted temporary service interruptions at least 24 hours in advance of the service switch over.

Once the work is completed in whole around W, Old Cove Rd., work will proceed southward along S. Cobia Way.

During construction, expect single-lane road closures along the active construction area. We ask motorists and pedestrians alike to exercise caution when circulating within the active construction zone. Weekly project updates will be provided to inform residents of construction progress in addition to potential changes in neighborhood traffic circulation and planned utility service interruptions. For questions related to the project, please feel free to contact David Ryan, PE at 252.441.6221 or david.ryan@nagsheadnc.gov. We thank you in advance for your patience during construction.
