[ARCHIVED] S. Memorial Ave. Drainage Replacement Project

Project construction is progressing with storm pipe replacement completed up to the S. Memorial Ave/ E Bladen St. intersection. Concrete crews will mobilize this coming week to begin replacing driveways at the south end of the project as the pipe crews continue in the proximity of the street intersection. Weather permitting, construction should be completed in the next several weeks.

Existing drainage pipes will be removed and replaced within the E. Bladen St./S. Memorial Ave. intersection the week of March 7, 2022. Beginning Monday, March 7th, the existing east/west pipe will be removed on the south side of the S. Memorial Ave. E. Bladen St. intersection. A single lane closure will be in effect with local traffic only permitted while pipe removal operations are ongoing. Beginning Tuesday, March 8th, the east side of the S. Memorial Ave./ E. Bladen St. intersection will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will remain uninterrupted along S. Memorial Ave. and E. Bladen St. between S. Wrightsville Ave. and S. Memorial Ave. during this period. On Wednesday, March 9th, the north side of the S. Memorial Ave./ E. Bladen St. intersection will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will remain uninterrupted along E. Bladen St. between S. Wrightsville Ave. and S. Virginia Dare Trail and north and south of the intersection along S. Memorial Ave during this period. On Thursday, March 10th, the west side of the S. Memorial Ave./ E. Bladen St. intersection will be closed to all traffic. Traffic will remain uninterrupted along S. Memorial Ave. and to the east between S. Memorial Ave. and S. Virginia Dare Trail. We recommend that vehicular traffic be rerouted during this constriction period.

Weekly project updates will be provided to inform residents of construction progress in addition to potential changes in neighborhood traffic circulation and planned utility service interruptions.
