Beach Driving Update, Friday, January 14, 2022
Due to anticipated impacts from a large winter storm, the beach in Nags Head will be closed to driving on Sunday and Monday, January 16 and 17. We'll re-assess conditions on Monday to determine when the beach can be re-opened to driving.
Four-wheel drive, state inspected vehicles with a Town permit ($25) are allowed on the beach in both Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills from October 1 through April 30 each year. Modified utility vehicles ("MUTV") as described in N.C.G.S. 20-4.01(27) shall not be considered an "eligible" vehicle regardless of whether the MUTV is registered or licensed in any state.
