Beach Driving Update, Tuesday, November 30, 2021
Two areas of Nags Head's beach have been re-opened to driving: the area from Eighth Street south to Nags Head Pier and the area near Jennette's Pier. Currently, the section of beach from Surfside Drive south to the town's line with Cape Hatteras National Seashore is the only area that remains closed.

Four-wheel drive, state inspected vehicles with a Town permit ($25) are allowed on the beach in both Nags Head and Kill Devil Hills from October 1 through April 30 each year. Modified utility vehicles ("MUTV") as described in N.C.G.S. 20-4.01(27) shall not be considered an "eligible" vehicle regardless of whether the MUTV is registered or licensed in any state.
