W. Side Multi-Use Path Construction Update
• Phase 8A – Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Soundside Rd. to W. Danube St. in conjunction with the construction of a 6’ wide sidewalk from Dune St. to Deering St. (East Side). Construction completed for Phase 8A.
• Phase 8B - Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Baymeadow Drive to Gull Street. Concrete work has been concentrated on the south side of the Outer Banks Event site this past week. Concrete pathway installation, minus the ramp transitions and concrete curb & gutter work, has been installed through to the north side of the Nags Head Raceway at 7000 S. Croatan Hwy.. This work will be followed by concrete curb & gutter work along this corridor and continue southward towards Gull St.. Grading activities will continue along the remaining length of the project. During active construction periods, temporary lane closures will be in effect. We ask that motorists exercise caution and slow down when traveling within the active construction work zone. Additional message board signage is employed during active construction periods to caution southbound motorists of the change in the traffic pattern.
• Phase 8C - Construction of the multi-use pathway, drainage infrastructure, and concrete curb and gutter has been completed between W. Danube Street and W. Seachase Drive. The multi-use path is now open to pedestrian traffic. We ask that pedestrian traffic stay within the limits of the newly constructed path and off the newly established hydroseeded areas.
