[ARCHIVED] Coastal Storm Will Impact Area Nov. 15-18

Weather Alert

A powerful coastal storm will bring rain, as well as high winds and surf, to Nags Head from midday Saturday until midday Monday.

We could see ocean overwash on sections of South Virginia Dare Trail and South Old Oregon Inlet Road. Do not drive through the flooded areas; there could be debris in the water and the flooding could be salt water, not rain water. Should you wish to park your vehicle on higher ground, feel free to park at Town Hall at 5401 S. Croatan Hwy. or Town Park at 415 W. Health Center Dr. (turn west at Ace Hardware).

We are expecting high winds all weekend, with the worst of the winds forecasted to hit our area on Sunday, November 17, 2019 between 11 am and 1 pm. Please secure all outside furniture and sanitation carts.

ATTN Property Owners on the Blue Route - We still expect to collect trash and recycling on Monday, November 18. However, please avoid placing your carts out for collection until Monday morning as they may be blown away or washed off your property.

Motorists should proceed with extreme caution this weekend and check road conditions before traveling, especially during periods of high tide.

The local National Weather Service office is not forecasting soundside flooding for Nags Head at this time. Please monitor their forecasts all weekend long in case of a change.
