The final segment of the W. Side Multi-Use Path project is now open to pedestrian traffic. This final phase of the three-phase pathway plan development, spanning along the west side of S. Croatan Hwy. from W. Baymeadow St. to W. Gull St., completes the nearly year-long process for planning, permitting, and associated construction. In total, the additional segments recently constructed extend the existing S. Croatan Hwy. multi-use pathway network by 2.33 miles.
The multi-use path extension was identified as a top priority in the Nags Head Pedestrian Plan and made possible through a generous short-term restricted fund project grant from the Outer Banks Tourism Board and the Town of Nags Head parks and paths capital reserve fund.
Some minor finishing work remains to include pavement striping, guardrail installation, and landscaping which will be completed in the upcoming weeks.
We appreciate everyone’s patience during construction and hope you enjoy this valuable addition to our community.
