About Whalebone Park

Need a break from the beach? Check out Whalebone Park across from Jennette's Pier near Mile Post 16.5. A nautical-themed playground provides hours of amusement for kids, while shaded picnic tables, a covered shelter, bathrooms, and bocce and volleyball courts are also available.


**Balloons are prohibited from being released on any Town-owned property, any waters within the Town's zoning jurisdiction, and the beaches and dune areas in Nags Head. This regulation is in place to protect our environment and wildlife from pollution and harm. See Section 26-17 of our town code for more information. 


Reservations

The park may be reserved for non-governmental events. For guaranteed availability of the park's facilities, advance registration is required. After checking with the Deputy Town Clerk (252-441-5508) for availability, please use the link below to fill out the online request form and make payment.

A $25 park use fee and $50 refundable clean-up deposit are due along with the Park Reservation & Payment Form, no later than the Wednesday prior to the reservation. Pay Online or make the check payable to the Town of Nags Head. Our mailing address is: Town of Nags Head, PO Box 99, Nags Head, NC 27959 or a check can be dropped off at Nags Head's Town Hall at 5401 S. Croatan Hwy.
