Old Nags Head Cove Water Main Replacement Project
The map above represents the current progress of the Old Nags Head Cove Water Main Replacement Project. The recently installed water main is represented by the blue linework with the orange color representing the sections of water main recently installed but not yet operational.
Tentative Construction Schedule
Week of April 11th- 6" dia. water main to be installed along S. Roanoke Way starting at 4606 S. Roanoke Way and progressing southward. The contractor will directionally bore the 2" dia. water main which serves the lots fronting the northern cul-de-sac. Long service connections will be directionally bored beneath the roadway for the sections of the newly installed main along S. Cobia Way and W. Sandpiper Terrace.
Week of April 18th- 8" dia. water main to be installed beginning at S. Links Dr. and through the golf course for connectivity to S. Roanoke Way. This construction type will primarily be conducted via horizontal directional drill, (HDD). The HDD construction method will continue along a portion of S. Roanoke Way and connect with the advancing open-cut construction from the northern portion of S. Roanoke Way. Directional drilling of long service connections beneath the roadway will continue along the installed sections of water main.
Week of April 25th- Horizontal directional drill portions of S. Blue Marlin Way and W. Sandpiper Terrace. Complete directional drilling of long service connections for the portions of installed water main. Once all service connections are completed, the newly installed water main will be pressure tested, chlorinated, flushed, and placed into operation.
Week of May 2nd- Conduct concrete apron work in areas of open-cut type construction.
