Join us as we honor of our nation’s veterans on Monday, November 11, 2019 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial in front of the Nags Head Municipal Complex, 5401 S. Croatan Highway (across from Douglas A. Remaley Fire Station 16).

The guest speak will be Phil Webster (Nags Head's police chief), a U.S. Marine Corps veteran.

The next time you visit Nags Head's town hall (5401 S. Croatan Hwy.), help the less fortunate kids in our area experience the joy of Christmas by placing a toy in the TOYS FOR TOTS box in our lobby. The toys will be collected and distributed in December.

Citizen-scientist flood reports submitted by you, the app user, provide our research team with data about the location and timing of flooding events that help us evaluate and improve models for flooding owing to ocean storms and rainfall.

Municipal Election Day November 5, 2019

A nonpartisan municipal election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 in the Towns of Duck, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Manteo, Nags Head and Southern Shores to elect officials. The polls will be open for voting on November 5th from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Dare County municipal elections are non-partisan plurality elections. The candidates receiving the highest number of votes will be elected.

Registration: All voters registered within their municipality are eligible to vote in these elections. Residents of the municipality who are not registered to vote must register by Friday, October 11, 2019. A voter who has moved or made any changes since the last election must notify the Board of Elections of the change by the same date. A person may register to vote at the Board of Elections office at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo between 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. - Monday through Friday. You may also receive a registration form at any branch of the Dare County Library or any Town Hall during regular business hours. Alternatively, you may register and, if eligible, then vote at any one-stop site in your county of residence. You must provide documentation of your residence in order to register at a one-stop site.

By-Mail, No-Excuse Absentee Voting: Requests for an absentee ballot must be made using the State Ballot Request Form and received in the Dare County Board of Elections office by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 29, 2019. Forms are available online on the NC State Board of Elections and Dare County websites and in the Dare County Board of Elections Office. The Board of Elections will meet on October 15, October 22, October 29, November 4 and November 5 at 5:00 p.m. and other times as may be necessary for the purpose of approving absentee ballot applications.

One-Stop, No-Excuse Absentee Voting: One-Stop absentee voting begins on October 16, 2019 at the Dare County Administration Building at 954 Marshall C. Collins Drive in Manteo. The site is open weekdays beginning October 16, 2019 – November 1, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This site is closed Saturdays with the exception of the October 19, when it will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for One-Stop absentee voting. Canvass will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Dare County Administration Building in Manteo on Friday, November 15, 2019.

An additional One-Stop voting site will be located in the Kill Devil Hills Town Hall at 102 Town Hall Drive, Kill Devil Hills, weekdays beginning October 16, 2019 – November 1, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This site is closed Saturdays with the exception of the October 19, when it will be open from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. for One-Stop absentee voting.

Voters voting in person are entitled to assistance by an election official, or, if assistance is needed due to disability or illiteracy, by a qualified person of their choice. Registration facilities and voting sites are accessible to all voters. Curbside voting is available for voters who are not physically able to enter voting sites.
