US 64/S. Virginia Dare Trail Nags Head to Manteo Causeway Closed Due to Flooding

US 64/South Virginia Dare Trail (NH to Manteo Causeway) is CLOSED due to sound side flooding. Follow our Facebook or Twitter sites for information on the re-opening of the road. It had been re-opened once the power lines and earlier storm debris was removed, but unfortunately it has been closed again. Thank you for your patience.

Bulletin 9 from Dare County Emergency Management

The mandatory evacuation for Dare County remains in place due to hazardous conditions, including downed power lines and trees, impassable roadways and widespread power outages. Access into Dare County will remain restricted until preliminary assessments are completed to determine that conditions are safe. The Dare County Control Group will meet Saturday morning to review assessments and determine reentry procedures. A staged reentry process will be used to facilitate a safe and orderly return.

Read more of the bulletin on the Dare County web site.
