Candy Cane Hunt Rescheduled

Due to rain, the candy cane hunt at Dowdy Park, originally scheduled for December 15, will take place on Tuesday, December 20 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

Hunts for two separate age groups, 3-6 years old and 6-10 years old, will be held.

If your children are older and want to help hide the candy canes, we could use the help at 5 pm that night.

All administrative offices will be closed Friday, December 23 through Tuesday, December 27 and Monday, January 2.

Important Notes

Please recycle your cardboard! Cardboard-only dumpsters are available at Town Hall (5401 S. Croatan Hwy.) and Public Works (2200 Lark Ave.).
Commingled recyclables can be dropped off at Town Hall and Public Works 24/7/365.

Sustained and severe cold weather creates opportunities for plumbing to freeze. Please do not use torches, other open flame tools, or steam to thaw frozen pipes!

Freezing Temps Headed Our Way - Be Prepared

Temperatures in our area are forecasted to dip below freezing towards the end of next week. Remember to think about your neighbors who may need help, pets, plants, and pipes.

Check on your neighbors and the elderly.
Bring pets inside and keep them warm.
Cover pipes to avoid damage from freezing. Please do not use torches, other open flame tools, or steam to thaw frozen pipes.

Picking out wrapping paper this week? Keep in mind that decorative wrapping paper and tissue paper are not recyclable. Craft paper, butcher paper, or newspaper can be used as a recyclable replacement.

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $9.60/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
