Town of Nags Head
National Hurricane Image of Tropical Storm Ian September 24 2022 8 am update.

It's still too early to tell if impacts will be felt in our area from Tropical Storm Ian.  However, this is a good reminder to check up on your hurricane plan. Is your kit complete? Do you have your Dare County re-entry permits?

How to prepare: www.weather.gov/mhx/hurricaneprep and follow updates here: www.weather.gov/mhx/tropical.

The four and five day track errors are around 170 to 230 miles, so it is important to stay aware of the tropical updates from trusted weather sources such as the National Weather Service.

You can also find more information on hurricane preparedness from the Dare County web site.

Finally, don't forget to sign up for emergency alerts. You can receive a variety of alerts, including severe weather watches and warnings, evacuation orders, or water service disruptions or delays.

Picture dancing in bare feet with Louis Armstrong a few steps away, belting out his tunes, and soft ocean breezes tickling your salty, sunburned skin. It was just another night at Nags Head's Casino, the premier entertainment venue across from Jockey's Ridge for nearly 40 years.

If you weren't part of the fun back then, after watching this video you'll wish you had cut a rug at this Outer Banks entertainment landmark.

Many thanks to former Nags Head Board of Commissioners member Anna Sadler, long-time cottage owner Lloyd Horton, CURRENTtv and the Outer Banks History Center. We appreciate you helping to make this video happen.

One page brochure advertising Veterans Day ceremony at NH Town Hall on 11/11/22 at 11 am.

You won't have to be in town this year to see our popular Veterans Day ceremony. We'll be livestreaming the event on our YouTube channel starting at 11 am. The ceremony is usually anywhere from 30 to 45 minutes long.

If you can join us in-person, we'll have a special speaker and live music. We'll also lay a beautiful wreath at our veterans memorial. We hope you can take a few minutes out of your day to honor the sacrifices, courage, and patriotism of the men and women who have worn a military uniform.

What happens to your recycled cartons?

Once our curbside recycling vendor, TFC, receives your cartons, they are baled and used to make new paper products and sustainable building materials. At paper mills, the carton components are separated using a device called a hydrapulper. The pulp is separated and used to make paper products, such as paper towels, tissue and office paper.

Thanks for recycling!

If you don't have time to haul your recyclables to the recycling centers we have at town hall (5401 South Croatan Highway) and our public services facility (2200 Lark Avenue), subscribe to the curbside recycling collection service offered by TFC Recycling. The cost is only $9.60/month thanks to a $5/month subsidy from the Town.
