Don't Fall for Holiday Scams

Nags Head's Police Department would like to remind you to be aware of holiday scams.

Four signs it's a scam:

Scammers PRETEND to be from an organization you know.
Scammers say there's a PROBLEM or a PRIZE.
Scammers PRESSURE you to act immediately.
Scammers tell you to PAY in a specific way.

Tips to help avoid a scam:

Block unwanted calls and text messages.
Don't give your personal or financial information in response to a request you didn't expect.
Never pay someone who insists you pay with a gift card or using a money transfer service.
Don't click on links in emails or texts you didn't expect.

Good news! Resurfacing of the pickleball and basketball courts at Dowdy Park has been completed. But, for cautionary reasons, the courts will remain closed next week.

If you come across a strand of lights that are broken, please do not dispose of them in your recycling bin. Please throw any broken holiday decorations in your trash bin. These types of items get tangled in the equipment used to sort recyclables, damaging it and stopping the entire recycling process.
