Multi-Use Pathway Update June 30, 2020

Multi Use Pathway Update July 2, 2020

Phase 8B - Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of South Croatan Highway spanning from West Baymeadow Drive to Gull Street.

Fine grading and incidental work will continue along the length of the project in preparation for pathway installation. The concrete pathway construction sequence will initially be concentrated between the Outer Banks Event Site and Gull Street. Weather permitting, concrete pathway construction should commence the week of July 13th. During active construction periods, temporary lane closures will be in effect. We ask that motorists exercise caution and slow down when traveling within the active construction work zone.

Additional message board signage may be employed during active construction periods to caution southbound motorists of the change in the traffic pattern.

Phase 8C - Construction of the pathway section has been completed between West Danube Street and West Seachase Drive, minus a small section of pathway immediately north of West Seachase Drive.

The multi-use path will remain closed to pedestrian traffic until all the improvements are in place. Temporary lane closures will be removed beginning the afternoon of July 2nd and extend through July 5th. Construction activity will resume on Monday, July 6th with concrete curb and gutter installation primarily concentrated between the Outer Banks Hospital and W. Danube Street. Weather permitting, this work will continue through the end of the week. During this time, temporary lane closures may remain in place overnight. Traffic control measures and signage will be employed to alert motorists of this change in traffic pattern.

We ask that motorists exercise caution and slow down when traveling within the active construction work zone.

Remember Using Fireworks in Nags Head is Prohibited

As many of you already know, the windy, often dry climate we have here on the Outer Banks and our many wood-shingled buildings, combined with personal fireworks, makes for potentially dangerous fire hazards. As a result, the use of all fireworks in Nags Head is prohibited.

Please share the word! Have a safe and happy 4th!
