For those who have not been in the area recently, we’re making a lot of improvements, such as installing water lines and extending our multi-use path, along the southbound lane of South Croatan Highway between Hollowell Street near Mile Post 12 south to the Outlets Nags Head  in the 7100 block of South Croatan Highway near Mile Post 16. Be prepared for closures of the right lane of the highway in this area. For more information, visit https://www.nagsheadnc.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=259. This work will continue into the summer. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

Nags Head’s Planning and Development Department continues to encourage everyone to conduct their business with the Town either online or via the phone. Trade permits can be applied for and issued online. Online permitting is also available for sign permits, commercial and residential repair permits, residential demolition permits, and residential remodel permits (without additional heated square footage). Online permitting is available. For most every other permit or approval, the department can make arrangements to coordinate the submittal of applications and materials, issue permits, and take payments (the Town has temporarily waived all payment service fees).

If you need assistance, call or email first (252-441-7016 or planning@nagsheadnc.gov) and the department will find a way to accommodate your needs.

We're Keeping Our Community Running

We've been highlighting some of our employees in this email broadcast so you have a better idea of what we're doing to keep our community running during the pandemic. While most people think of police and fire services as essential, we have many other responsibilities that are critical to operating a town. For example, collecting trash and supplying drinking water are two critical duties that may come to mind. But, there are also other tasks that may not be so obvious.

Prior to today we highlighted Shannon and Kim who remain busy answering questions from the public, as well as Bruce and Nehmias who take turns sanitizing our offices. Today, we're highlighting Facilities Maintenance Technicians Russell Canter (top) and Kris Hoffman who were repairing an irrigation system at Nags Head's Town Hall earlier this week. This type of maintenance doesn't garner a lot of attention from the public, but it needs to be done nonetheless.

Please know that we're still working to keep our wonderful community running smoothly. Stay healthy and stay safe friends.
