SPECIAL NOTE-As you will read below, the Dare County Division of Public Health has announced they have received confirmation of three positive cases of COVID-19 linked to residents and staff at Peak Resources, a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Nags Head. 

If you have a loved one or staff member at the facility and would like additional information, please call Peak Resources at 252-441-3116. 

Information Regarding the April 15, 2020 Nags Head Board of Commissioners Meeting
Nags Head’s April 15, 2020 Board of Commissioners meeting, which begins at 9 am, will be conducted electronically. The public will be able to listen and watch the meeting via the Zoom platform.

The meeting agenda is available at www.nagsheadnc.gov. 

The public should adhere to local and state health guidelines and not attend this meeting in person. However, public input, as always, is encouraged. Please email comments for the public comment portion of the meeting and/or the public hearing to publiccomment041520@nagsheadnc.gov by 5 pm, Tuesday, April 14, 2020. Comments should include your name and address and must be limited to five minutes when read aloud.

Live Remote Inspections Now Available
To better serve the public during this time of social distancing, Nags Head's Planning Department is using video technology to conduct live remote inspections. This technology can be used for trade permit inspections like HVAC change-outs, meter base change-outs, electrical service upgrades, water heater change-outs, trench inspections for electrical, gas, or plumbing permits, and possibly other applications as agreed upon by the inspector and the applicant/contractor.

Good Friday Town Office and Sanitation Schedule Information
There will be no change to the Town’s sanitation schedule due to the Easter holiday. The bulk item/brush collection yard will remain on its normal schedule, operating on Saturday, April 11 from 9 am to 3 pm and again on Monday, April 13 from 9 am to 3:30 pm. 
Town offices will be closed on Friday, April 10, 2020.  Emergency services, such as police and fire responses, will not be interrupted.

The Dare County Division of Public Health has received confirmation of three positive cases of COVID-19 linked to residents and staff at Peak Resources, a nursing and rehabilitation facility in Nags Head, NC. Of the three who tested positive, two individuals are Dare County residents and one resides in another county. 

The additional testing that led to these results was part of a comprehensive public health investigation based on a single positive test result announced on Sunday, April 5. The patients and staff who had direct contact with the positive individual were tested on Monday, April 6. With these positive test results, all patients and staff at the facility are now being tested.

The Dare County Department of Health and Human Services is reporting the first COVID-19 associated death in Dare County.

The individual died this morning from complications associated with the virus. The individual was in their early 90s and had several underlying medical conditions. To protect the family’s privacy, no further information about this individual will be released.

“This is never the type of information we want to have to share. We extend our heartfelt condolences to this individual’s family and loved ones and pray for peace and comfort,” stated Dr. Sheila Davies, Director of the Dare County Department of Health and Human Services.
