Project engineers Coastal Science & Engineering estimate that Reach 4 will last six years based on an increase in the planned unit volumes to ~150% of the 2011 project. Reach 4 began to have dune escarpment issues by ~Year 4 after the 2011 project. This estimate assumes normal conditions (ie similar frequency of storms). Reach 3S is expected to have fill remaining by Year 8 for similar reasons related to increased fill density. All other reaches will retain a significant quantity of nourishment beyond 10 years.
