Multi Use Pathway Update March 30, 2020

• Phase 8A – Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Soundside Rd. to W. Danube St. in conjunction with the construction of a 6’ wide sidewalk from Dune St. to Deering St. (East Side). Concrete pathway installation is nearly complete for the west side of S. Croatan Hwy. Construction is ongoing at the intersection of S. Croatan Hwy. & Deering St.. Expect temporary lane closures for the outbound lanes from Deering St. to occur during the week of March 30th through April 3rd. Vehicular traffic will be rerouted to the south through Daria Dr. and can exit to the east through the Grace Lutheran Church main entrance. Once work is completed on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., construction will proceed to the east side of S. Croatan Hwy. with a sidewalk connection between Dune St. and Deering St..  Work will typically occur between the hours of 7am and 6pm, Monday – Friday.  We ask that all motorists please exercise caution and slow down when travelling within the active construction work zone. 

• Phase 8B - Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Baymeadow Dr. to Gull St.  Storm drainage material has been delivered and staged in the proximity of Pamlico Jack’s restaurant. Aside from construction survey stakeout, no further construction activity is scheduled in the project area for the week of March 30th through April 3rd.  

• Phase 8C - Planned construction of a 10’ wide multi-use pathway on the west side of S. Croatan Hwy., spanning from W. Danube St. to W. Seachase Dr.. Clearing, grubbing and  installation of erosion and sediment control measures are currently in progress. For the week of of March 30th through April 3rd, installation of drainage infrastructure will proceed in the proximity of W. Danube St. and Old Cove Rd.. Expect temporary lane closures in the active construction area. Construction work will generally proceed from north to south within the project area.
