Reminder of Ocean Rescue Staff Reduction
Ocean Rescue staffing levels decrease after Labor Day. Lifeguard stands are no longer staffed; however, the Town operates with a “skeleton crew,” patrolling and responding to calls until October 15th. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. for September and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for October, with no on-call.
Beach wheelchairs are available from Ocean Rescue at the Bonnett (near Mile Post 11) and Hargrove (near Mile Post 17) beach accesses from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Memorial Day through Labor Day. In addition, wheelchairs are also available all year long from Nags Head's Douglas A. Remaley Fire Station 16 (5314 South Croatan Highway). Wheelchairs can also be rented from local equipment rental companies. Call Fire and Rescue at 252-441-5909 for a list of companies or additional help accessing the beach.
